Roland Women in Music

by | Aug 13, 2019 | Industry News

Roland has been at the forefront of musical instrument technology and showcasing iconic music artists who enjoy the gear. The vision for the Roland woman in music project was to align the power of Roland with the power of celebrating women, especially during national women’s month.

With an eclectic mix of established and developing artists and creatives of varying genres, the Roland woman in music project sought to display the power of women collaborating to showcase their talent on the platform Roland provides. The artists came together to create an artistic visual explosion of the cover ‘This is Me’ from the hit musical The Greatest Showman – a song with an uplifting melody and inspirational lyrics and message of triumphing over adversity and powering through oppression and ridicule to ultimately stand victorious.

The Roland woman in music project, although to showcase Roland musical technology and instruments, was also designed to join forces with the long-serving mission of women empowerment and being a platform where female musical talent can be celebrated. This is not a once-off project but an initiative to cultivate the support of female artists and set the benchmark in this regard within the musical instrument industry.

Each artist came from a different genre and cultural background, as well as varying age groups and part of the goal, was to bridge the gap between established artists and developing artists. The artists involved include Chante Philips (Drummer), Tiana Amari (Bassist), Louise Day (Guitar and Vocals), Dani Bagel (Keys and Vocals) and Patty Monroe (Rapper).

Not only did the Roland woman in music project bring musicians together, but also spun together creatives such as Kyle Petersen as Musical Director, Michael Stephens as Creative Director/Videographer, Anelia Loubser (Photographer) and Caleb Williams as Floor assistant.

It was incredible that the Radisson Red Hotel at the Waterfront, CBD came on board as the ideal location for the visual shoot since their pillars of a focus on art, music and fashion are synonymous with what our project is geared at achieving. Roland would also like to acknowledge the support of Esra Overberg, Eastern Acoustics, Unknown Union and SocioCulture by Naeelah Jumat in supplying the sound and lighting requirements and stylish and unique attire for the artists.
